Oil is what we know,
oil is what we do.
Oil! It’s a small word but to us it has vast possibilities.
Oil has been our whole world since 1893, from our modest start-up on Newcastle’s Quayside to our purpose-built oil filling facility on the Team Valley in Gateshead where the company is now based.
Under the leadership of the fourth generation of the Colbeck family, Colbeck Edible Oils supplies companies throughout the UK with a variety of oils & fats for a variety of uses.
Food Manufacturers are our pre-dominant customers; however, Cosmetics, Paints, Lubricants and Pet Foods are just some of the other industries that we work along with independent, family-run businesses to provide the right oil for their product.
Our range covers liquid oils in 1000 litre IBCs and 20 litres and boxed solid fats available in 12.5kgs and 10kgs.
Continued investment has been a key part of our success and the last year has seen significant expansion.
We’ve installed an extra oil-filling line which means quicker and more efficient production. We have two new IBC washers and two additional 30 tonne holding tanks so we can now accommodate 240 tonnes of oil. All oil that is taken into the holding tanks is flushed with nitrogen and then protected with a blanket of nitrogen keeping it in prime condition prior to being packed on-demand for delivery.
If it's important to you, it's important to us
Many of our customers are suppliers to the major supermarkets and accreditations are very important to them. If something is important to our customers, then it’s important to us too. We are, therefore, both BRC Storage & Distribution Certificated and ISO 9001 Accredited. We’re members of NEODA (The National Edible Oils Distributors Association) whose central principle is adherence to the ‘Guarantee of Confidence’ scheme.
This scheme ensures that oils and fats distributed by its members follow a strict set of requirements concerning product contents, labelling and pack size. In other words, what is stated on the label is what is contained in the pack.
We’re members of The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, (RSPO). The aim of the RSPO is to transform markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm. It has 4,000 members worldwide who are committed to produce, source and/or use sustainable palm oil certified by the RSPO.
